Pelvic floor weakness
Weakness or dysfunction of the pelvic floor may lead to prolapse or loss of bladder control. Signs of pelvic floor weakness include leaking during exercise, inability to reach the toilet in time and a feeling of heaviness at the base of the pelvis. Pelvic floor weakness can be caused by:
- pregnancy
- heavy lifting on a regular basis
- respiratory conditions which cause frequent coughing
- low back issues.
As with other muscles in the body, the pelvic floor muscles need retraining post injury or dysfunction. Pelvic health physiotherapy can assist with assessing the strength and endurance of the pelvic floor.
We will also ensure correct technique and an exercise program is adopted when strengthening these muscles. Our treatment methods include a combination of manual therapy, pelvic floor exercises, and lifestyle education.
Your comfort and wellbeing are our priority, and we're dedicated to supporting you every step of the way on your journey to better pelvic health. Contact us today to schedule an appointment and take the first step towards feeling your best.
